Alton was born April 27, 1914, to Julian Philip Myers and Myrtle Vera Myers (Markle), at Elbow, Saskatchewan. In 1919, the family relocated to Fort Fraser where they arrived on the train in the early hours of April 3rd. The family resided in the Wright Investment Building before moving in April of 1921 to their property just east of Fort Fraser which became known as the “View Point Farm.” In 1929, the family moved to Prince George so that Alton could complete his high school education. After completing his schooling in 1932, they returned to the farm in Fort Fraser. On January 21, 1939, Alton married Isabel (Falkiner) and the young couple moved into their home on Telegraph Road, where they raised their three daughters. Much of Alton’s life was involved with farming, logging and sawmilling. During the 1940’s, he started a scheduled truck route to and from Vanderhoof. In later years, he established Alton Myers Bookkeeping in Vanderhoof where he and Isabel resided for several years. During this time, he served as a Justice of the Peace. After his retirement, he and Isabel moved to the North Shore of Fraser Lake where they built a new log home. Alton was involved in many community efforts, such as the Board of Trade, Farmer’s Institute, Liberal Association, Chamber of Commerce and many others. For a time, he was the Scout Master for the Fort Fraser Group. Alton is predeceased by his father, Philip, his mother, Myrtle and younger brother, Markle, granddaughter, Debbie Trenholm and great grandson, Christopher MacPherson.
