In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that announce the passing of Ann Burg on December 20, 2021 - a beloved partner, mother, and grandmother. Ann passed away due to Alzheimer's disease.
Ann was born on Dec 23, 1936 in Kingston Upon Hull, England. After finishing her nursing training, Ann arrived in Canada on June 14, 1961 aboard the Empress of England and worked as a nurse and midwife in Montreal, Lunenburg, and Victoria.
In 1962, she came to Vanderhoof where she met and married John Burg. They had three children: Alison (1963), Robert (1965) and Richard (1971). Ann worked as a registered nurse in St. John's Hospital and had several roles over her 38-year career including Head Nurse and Acting Director of Nursing.
Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, John, her children Alison (Steve) Dodge of Quesnel, Robert (Melissa) Burg of Richmond and Richard (Diana) Burg of Burnaby, and her grandchildren Michael, Nicole, Kieran, Danica, and Derek.
Ann was a believer in volunteering. For 25 years, she raised money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. She volunteered with Neighbour Link and was often found working in the Thrift Store. Ann was an active member of the Anglican and United Church churches; teaching Sunday School and singing in their choirs.
She also liked to participate in a variety of sports. Ann was a member of the octogenarian tennis club and, until recently, could still spike a ping pong ball. She enjoyed playing board games and card games with her friends and family. Ann loved gardening and harvesting her vegetables.
We would like to thank the staff at Stuart Nechako Manor for the compassion and care you showed to Ann. You always answered our questions, checked in on us, and truly made a difference during this difficult time.
Ann will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory can be made to the Stuart Nechako Manor or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
