Beverly Joanne Wilson,

1936-2008

Joanne Wilson (Robertson/Dennis) passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Moog and Friends Hospice in Penticton. She will be remembered with much love by her husband Don, children Steve Robertson and Jeff (Regina) Robertson of Fort St. John, Shelley (Lionel) Hoffmann of Kelowna, Mary (Ken) Nichol and Rob (Kirsten) Wilson of Surrey, as well as grandchildren Dennis, Patricia, Erin, Rochelle, Jean-Marc, Megan, Breanna, Evan and Avery, and former husband George (Sherry) Robertson of Abbotsford.

Joanne will be remembered fondly by many friends in the Okanagan and Stuart-Nechako areas. Her best days were spent camping with friends, getting together with family, and watching her grandchildren do the things they loved best. Joanne also loved to travel, to tell stories, and to shop for bargains. She was an amateur actor, poet and columnist, as well as a master at cryptograms and crosswords.

Joanne was a great friend to many and never turned anyone down. She had a long history of serving her community as a volunteer, in everything from minor hockey and figure skating to village council, hospital boards, the Penticton IronMan and Provincial Games, the bi-annual Stuart-Nechako reunion, and most recently at the Seniors Centre and the Penticton Hospital.

At the core of Joanne’s huge personality was a huge heart, and she will be deeply missed by many. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Lakeside Resort in Penticton on Sunday January 11, 2009, at 12:30pm. There will also be a campfire tribute and open house on the spectacular shores of Stuart Lake, where Joanne had requested her ashes be scattered, on Saturday July 18, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or other charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to HANSONS’ ARBOR FUNERAL CHAPELS, Penticton, British Columbia 1-250-492-4202
