Henson - Clarence Sidney, known to his friends
as Hank, was born in Brandon, Manitoba on
January 15, 1924. He died in Prince George, BC on
September 25, 2008 after a long and courageous
battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Doris,
sons; Ted (Pat), Jim (Judy), and daughters; Irene Cole, Lorraine (Sheldon Gygi) and Gale. He also leaves step children; Clarence Hogan (Nicole), Suzanne Valstar (Peter),
Diane Kilkus (Bob) and Bill Long (Leah). There are 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his first wife Audrey in 1982, his parents, five brothers and one sister. Hank served in World War II as a rifleman
in the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was wounded on August 13, 1944 in Falays, France. He returned from the war and married Audrey Hindmarch in 1948. He played
hockey in Brandon until he was recruited by the Kimberley
Dynamiters Hockey Team as a goalie. This meant a move to BC where he lived for the rest of his life. He worked for the City of Richmond and at various mines throughout the
province. During this time, he was a Scout Master and
coached hockey. While living in Squamish in 1982, his wife Audrey passed away. Hank moved north to the Vanderhoof area where he met and married Doris Long in 1989. They
later moved to Kelowna and then back to Prince George. During this time, they travelled extensively and Hank regained his skill and interest in 5 and 10 pin bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. There was a memorial service at the
Royal Canadian Legion in Prince George on October 6, 2008 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prince George Hospice House would be appreciated. Hank’s cremated remains will be buried at the Brandon Veterans
Cemetery with his father and brothers. Lakewood Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
