Cornelius (Corny) Schroeder of Vanderhoof, BC passed away peacefully at St. John Hospital on June 23, 2006 at the age of 83. Corny was born in Rhineland Munc., MB on August 20, 1922. Corny married Susie Schmidt on October 11, 1942. In 1952 they moved to Vanderhoof, BC.
His many attributes will be fondly remembered by his wife, Susie of Vanderhoof; his three children: Leona (Garry) Bugg of Mackenzie, BC, Caroline (Ken) Gammel of Kitimat, BC and Brenda (Mark) of Red Deer, AB; 8 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 2 sisters Margaret (Menno) Funk and Anna Bartsch; as well as 5 brothers John (Helen) Schroeder, Dave (Mildred) Schroeder, Phil (Sue) Schroeder, Jac (Sally) Schroeder and Abe Schroeder.
Corny was predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Maria (Kehler) Schroeder, his brothers Peter Schroeder and Henry Schroeder and his sister Maria Schroeder. Corny’s family wish to extend their appreciation to the doctors and staff of St. John Hospital for their loving care during these last weeks, the kind friends that brought food to our home and to Val & Isabelle for their compassionate support.
Corny was a very special gift from God to Susie, his family, and his friends. A celebration of Corny’s life was held at the Gospel Chapel in Vanderhoof, BC on June 28, 2006 at 2:00 pm followed by internment at the Vanderhoof Municipal Cemetery.
