DAVIE’S CYNTHIA
JUNE Slipped quietly
away from us during the
early morning hours of
Friday, July 13, 2007. She is
survived by her only son
Chuck (Marit) Davies, a
granddaughter Christine
(Steve), 2 greatgrandchildren
Mica and Jorden, and
grandson Michael (Alesha).
Cynthia dearly loved
her brother Dick Manwaring
and her nieces and
nephews, most of whom
reside in Vanderhoof, B.C.
or England. Cynthia, who
acquired the name “GG”
when Mica was born,
was a truly wonderful
musician and teacher who
actively taught piano and
voice for 67 years, having
graduated the Royal Academy
of Music in England
in 1940. Coming to Canada
after the War, the family
eventually settled in Vanderhoof
B.C., where “GG”,
as dining-room cook and
manager, delighted many
guests of the Vanderhoof
Hotel with her culinary
skills, in addition to teaching
piano and fulfi lling the
role of founder and coordinator
for many annual
Music Festivals. In 1978
she moved to Westbank to
be close to family, where
she continued to teach and
again played a pivotal part
in the continued health
of Music Festivals in the
Kelowna area. In recent
years she had been a
valued volunteer teacher/
helper at Johnson Bentley
Pool. “GG” had so many
friends, there is no doubt
she will be sorely missed.
No funeral service by
request. Condolences

Mom-GG loved all
animals. A donation in her
name to your local SPCA
would be appreciated.
