Evelyn Bernice

(Goodland) Dickau

Sept 1927-Aug 2006

Bernice (Mom, Gram) passed away peacefully and with love surrounded by family at the Stuart Nechako Manor on Aug 3, 2006. A service was held for Bernice on August 7th.

Bernice; the eldest daughter of Gustoff & Esther Berg was born in Camrose, Alberta in 1927.

Her family moved to the Vanderhoof area when she was 3 years old and she later settled on a farm in the Mapes area. A the age of 17, Bernice married Matt Goodland and raised three boys on the farm on Goodland Rd. (Matt passed away in 1983).

Bernice’ passions were Bible Study and crafts. She was involved with a women’s bible study group for more than 30 years. As well she loved to do embroidery and knitting and she loved to make silk flower arrangements for weddings and other special occasions for many people in this area with her sister Bertha Giesbrecht.

In 1991, Bernice married Arley Dickau and was lovingly accepted into their family. They lived for a short time in Prince George and then moved back to the family farm.

When Bernice’s battle with Parkinson’s Disease caught up with her she moved into the Omineca Lodge and then to the new Stuart Nechako Manor, where she resided for the last 2 1/2 years. We cannot say enough about the quality of care and compassion from the staff there.

Many thanks to our friends who delivered meals, flowers and cards. The families would also like to extend our gratitude and thanks to Val, Isabelle and Chris at Grace Memorial Funeral Home.

Bernice will be lovingly missed by her husband Arley Dickau and family, her 3 boys (Dick (Sheri), Randy (Donna), Ron (Clare) Goodland and their 10 children, many grandchildren, nieces & nephews and friends.

We will miss her smile.
