Geraldine (Gerry) Thomson

It is our sad but loving duty to announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother Gerry. She is survived by her son Ian Thomson, daughter Mary Lynn (Kelvin) Lawrence, sister Maxine (Ron) Holmes, sister-in-laws Kathleen Leslie, Eileen (Tom) Harding and Sheila Nelson, as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
Gerry was born in Melfort, Sask. to Mary and Maxwell Nelson. Growing up in Vancouver, B.C., she graduated from normal school and obtained her teaching certificate. Gerry and her friend Nora ventured out to Fort Fraser by train to teach. There she met and married Eric Thomson in 1954. They lived in Vanderhoof, then for many years at their farm near Engen, before retiring to Vanderhoof.
Gerry taught in Vanderhoof for many years and became Vice-Principal and then Principal of McLeod Elementary School. She was also involved in many volunteer positions including Nechako Valley Community Services Society and was an active long term member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Gerry will be dearly missed by her family and friends as well as all who knew her.
