HAROLD ILLERBRUN
December 20, 1927 - May 21,2009
Harold has filed his final flight plan and “slipped the surly
bonds of earth”. He took off quietly from Burnaby General
Hospital with his family by his side wishing him a safe
journey. He will be missed by wife Joanna, daughters
Karen (Tim) and Tracy, and grandchildren, Colin, Caitlin,
Erin, Clarissa and Veronica; but they all take comfort
knowing that he is now in heaven giving God a hard
time! He is survived by three siblings, Ralph, Alice and
Mitchell and their families. Harold’s greatest sorrow
was the loss of his only son, Michael, in 2004. At a very
young age, Harold went to sea on coastal and deep sea
ships and served with the Merchant Navy during World
War II, circumnavigating the world several times. Later,
as a private pilot, his adventures took him to new
heights. Harold worked in the forest industry for several
decades, both on the coast and in the northern interior
of BC. He loved the outdoors and spending time
with family. His family and friends remember his great
stories (tall tales) along with his remarkable sense of humour and his fondness for mischief. In lieu of fl owers,
