Forever In Our Hearts

Harold V. “Red” Jones

July 13, 1912~Dec. 28, 2005

Harold Vane Jones was born in Shelby, Illinois on July 13, 1912. Harold, together with his parents, brother Wayne, and sister Zella, moved to Iowa by covered wagon when he was a young child. His sister Wilma (Jake) was born there soon after. He married Marie Clingham in Iowa in 1931 and they had a daughter, Virginia (DeBerg).

Harold married Maxine Mumford on Feb. 23, 1939 in Iowa, and they had a son Edwin Eugene, 10 months later. They moved to Oregon in 1941, where Harold worked for a logging company, built roads and did other odd jobs.

Richard Weldon, Carma Lee and Harold Dwayne, were all born there. With a growing family, Harold built a bigger house with a full basement, poured by hand, one bucket at a time. Soon after, their last son, Donald Vane was born.

After a few more moves around Oregon, the spirit caught Harold again, and they moved to Vanderhoof, B.C. Canada, where they lived for 11 years. Once more the spirit caught him, and he and Maxine moved to Falkland, B.C., where he built a house and a big workshop. They remained there for 23 years, with Harold happily building anything that caught his interest.

When he was 80, Harold was diagnosed with colon cancer and during surgery, they removed 2 feet of his intestines. He drove himself home from the hospital!

Eleven years ago, they decided to come back to Vanderhoof, so they sold their house. Then, their son-in-law Toby built them a new one where they reside today.

Harold went to meet his Maker on December 28, 2005.

He will be sadly missed by all.
