Ian Dominic McEwen
Feb 28, 1944 – May 13, 2007
Ian was a kind, generous and conscientious person
who loved rock hounding, hunting wild mushrooms
and living in northern BC. Born in Toronto, Ontario,
Ian graduated from high school in Kitimat, BC. After
attending Le College Militaire Royal de Saint-Jean in
Quebec, he served in the Canadian armed forces for
two years, then obtained a degree in political science at UBC. Ian was an accountant for MacMillan Bloedel in Vancouver, Port Alberni and Nanaimo, then spent 10 years working with First Nations people in Chase, Williams Lake, Prince George, Good Hope Lake and Fort Fraser. He settled in Fort St. James, where he was employed as an accountant for Stuart Lake Lumber. A widely knowledgeable and infinitely patient gentleman with a great sense of humour, Ian was the second son of George and Ursula McEwen (both deceased) of Kitimat
and Saltspring Island. He is survived and dearly missed by his brother Paul McEwen, nieces Megan McEwen and Dylaan McEwen, and grand-niece Julia McEwen- Nekrash (all of Nanaimo) and sister Mary Anne McEwen of Vancouver. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
