JEAN KATHLEEN GIESBRECHT
August 23, 1927 - February 10, 2011
Jean Kathleen Giesbrecht passed away peacefully at the Stuart Nechako Manor on Feb. 10, 2011. Jean was born to Albert and Violet Bell on August 23, 1927 in Carlton, Saskatchewan. She lived there with her family until she met and married dad, Cornelius Giesbrecht, on May 18, 1948.
As a young family their life began with frequent moves
which eventually led them to settle in Vanderhoof in 1952.
Through the years, 6 children were born into the family.
Caring for her family was her life’s work to which she
was unwaveringly committed. Once settled, dad’s passion
and work ethic resulted in multiple ventures running
simultaneously until he passed away in 1983. The stress of
his passing and other health concerns took its toll on mom
and her health steadily deteriorated over the years. She
was a quiet sort of person and in later years was content
puzzling, doing crochet and knitting, and just keeping track
of her family as best she could. Mom will be missed, but we
rejoice in the fact that she is resting without pain in the arms of Jesus.
She is survived by her brothers, Bernard Bell and Harold
Bell and by her children, Sharon (Del) Israelson, Larry
(Gladys) Giesbrecht, Marilyn (Ross) House, Donna
(George) Funk, Lyle (Janice) Giesbrecht, Arlene (Lyle)
Friesen, 17 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and
numerous great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her loving
husband Cornelius Giesbrecht, her parents Albert and Violet
Bell, sister Lillian Neufeld, brothers Arthur and Albert Bell,
and son-in-law Jake Martens.
