Mary Ginter was born
in Blumehof, a small town in
Saskatchewan, to John and
Maria Klassen on March 19,
1933. She was predeceased
by brother John in 1955,
father in 1979, husband
Jake in 1991 and mother in
1997. The Klassen family
moved to B.C. in 1942, this is
where Mary spent all of her
childhood years and most of
her adult life. She worked as a
nurses aid at St. John Hospital
for a number of years, living in
a small cabin near the hospital.
Mary then moved to Manitoba in the late 1950’s where she met and married Jake Ginter. They had a son Kenneth Peter born in Dryden Ont. Mary and Jake and Kenneth moved to B.C. in 1960. After many fi shing and hunting trips and buying a small
farm Sharon, Donald, Darlene and Elisa were born. The kids in return blessed them with 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In March of 2007 Mary had a slight stroke that impaired the use of her left leg. Getting around was diffi cult, so a wheelchair was introduced, taking away her independence that she enjoyed
all her life. Her kids and grand kids pitched in to help. To make life easier for Mary and everyone around her Mary and Buddy the bird moved into Elisa and Brad’s house where someone was
always on hand to help with any and everything.
In the early morning hours of August 11,
2007 Mary passed away quietly at St. John
Hospital.
