Mike died on May 5, 2023. The cause was respiratory failure.
Mike lived in Okanagan Falls for many years. It proved to be a very supportive community, as a number of residents kind of 'looked out' for Mike's well-being. Mike lived with the challenge of mental illness throughout his adult life. He grew up in Vanderhoof and attended Nechako Valley High School.
Mike was involved with 4-H and raised several cows and one year, a pig. He also enjoyed playing hockey in his youth. Many summers were spent in Fort St. James, highlighted by swimming in Stuart Lake. Those were the happy days.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Janey and Dr. Alvin Mooney, and one of his sisters, Janette Nicholas.
He is survived by his six brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance for Michael will be held on August 5, 2023, at the residence of Carol and Walker Mooney - 2505 West 13th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C.
