March 15, 1932 - June 21, 2020
Gone home to be with mom. He passed away peacefully at his home on Sturgeon Pt Road two miles from where he was born.
He was born the youngest son of Norman and Bessie (Gilbert) Williams. Born on McLelland Road in Vanderhoof during the Great Depression, he along with his siblings had a rough start to life. They struggled and survived.
They told many a story about those years. He left home as a young man and stayed with Bisanz in Vanderhoof for a few years. From there he went to the Kootenays to work in the gold and coal mines. He met and married Mom, Lillian Williams (née Wilde) in 1957. They lived in Dawson Creek for a time then returned to Vanderhoof. He was a great father to his 4 kids.
He was predeceased by his son David in 1972 and wife Lillian in 2004. He remarried in 2005 to Lois (Flynn) and they remained together until her death in 2019.
He raised animals and farmed for years, he logged the farm and area. He started woodworking later in life and was quite proud to give away "his junk". He got a great kick out asking people if they burned it yet. He supported the Women's Auxiliary for years, donating and being quite proud of his handiwork.
He is survived by his children: Lawrence (Jen), Charlaine (Rick), Bonnie (Greg). Grandchildren: Jamie (Ashley), Matthew (Emma), Amanda (Cameron), Craig (Bailey), Aimee (Jordan), Tierra (Cody) Trevor (Michelle). And great grandchild Alex.
He was always collecting kids and grandkids along the way. Too many to count. "You can never have too much family."
He is truly and deeply missed. He was at heart a humble and hardworking man, a loving man and a dear friend to those around him. The family asks that his legacy continue to live on as we help others as he would have done.
"I have many treasures and sometimes the goings tough, but if my friends still love me, I guess I'm rich enough. So I thank God for his mercy and the blessings he bestows, I'm drinking from my saucer for my cup has overflowed. "
