In loving memory ~
With great sadness, the family of Ross Herbert Striegler is announcing he passed away on March 1st, 2023. He died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He was 89.
Ross was born at Mapes and lived in Vanderhoof all his life, raising a family, running a successful truck-logging business and enjoying the outdoor life of fishing, camping and hunting. He was also a dedicated gardener, growing a variety of vegetables, berries and fruit trees and enjoying the bounty, including his favourite "spuds."
Ross was known for his very hard work, his generosity and his steady reliability and leadership in the Vanderhoof trucking and logging community. He loved a good laugh, told great stories and often surprised people with his beautiful singing and yodelling - something he did when he was comfortable and happy.
Ross is survived by his brother Roy, and will be dearly missed by his children, Becky, Pam, Andy (Kelley) and Lisa (Scott), and by his grandchildren Sasha, Neal, Jordan, Madyson, Kayla, Noelle, Conor, and Siobhan, and great-granddaughter, Jessica. He will also be missed by Tammy (Ken) Solmonson and Jodi (Brad) Dennill, their children, Amber, Ashley, Madison, and Matthew and their families, for whom Ross was Dad and Grandpa.
Ross has been pre-deceased by his sisters Mildred, Velma and Pearl, by his brother Keith and by his parents Herbert and Beatrice Striegler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ross's memory to the B.C. Diabetes Foundation at bcdiabetes.org or to the B.C. Wildlife Federation at bcwf.bc.ca.
