Born May 11, 1931 in Dixon, Missouri to Archie T. an Aretta Fritchey. Died on January 11, 2016 in Vanderhoof, BC, Canada. Tom lived the life he chose. Raised in the country outside White Salmon, WA, he married his childhood friend and life’s mate Norma Jean Arnold on July 27, 1951. They farmed in Mountain Brook and raised their children, Kathleen Jean (Kathy) and Robert Thomas (Bob). He worked for SDS Sawmill from 1951 until 1972 when they moved to Vanderhoof, BC, Canada where they bought their dream farm and raised cattle. Tom continued to work around the sawmills. He loved to visit and was well known at the local sale barn and farm stores as well as neighbours kitchens. He leaves behind his wife Norma at home; son Bob (partner Sandi Jesperson) and daughter Kathy Olmstead with husband Joe and grandchildren Jeannie Rude (Mark) of Montana and Dell Olmstead (Alva) of New Mexico. There are five (soon to be six) great-grandchildren. There are also brothers, Jim (Mary Ann) and Jack (Jackie), and sister, Marjorie and numerous nieces and nephews surviving him. There will be a memorial tea for friends in Vanderhoof at the Senior Center on January 26th from one until four and a family memorial in White Salmon in the spring. Any memorial contributions should go to the Sinkut Mountain Cattleman’s scholarship fund or a charity of your choice. A special note of thanks goes to the staff and doctors at Vanderhoof Hospital for their excellent care of Dad and us.
