Trudy Funk

Trudy was born on April 27th, 1953 in Vanderhoof, B.C. and was called Home to be with her Lord on June 28th, 2009 in the North Okanagan Hospice House, Vernon, B.C. at the age of 56 years, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Trudy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ernie; three daughters, Sheri (Craig) Wicks of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Jeannie (Stuart) Sinclair of Vanderhoof, B.C. and Gloria (Lenny) Fox of Vernon, B.C.; two grandchildren, Heidi and Dylan; her parents, Frank & Agatha Thiessen of Vanderhoof, B.C.; six step-children; twenty-one step-grandchildren; five brothers; five sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ken Wiebe on December 2nd, 1994.

Trudy loved the Lord and her first priority in life was to be a godly woman. She lived in such a way that she touched the lives of everyone she met. Trudy had a passion for baking and could always be found in her kitchen preparing something good to eat.

For the past few years she spent many hours baking at Davison Orchards. When she wasn’t in a kitchen baking, one could be assured that she was out shopping, looking for those “great deals.” Trudy had a real gift for being a care-giver, a gracious hostess and her heart was always open to serving others and her home was always a warm, welcoming place for family and friends.

A private family Graveside Service at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery preceded a Celebration Of Trudy’s Life which was held at Grace Bible Church on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Woelke officiating.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations to a Trust Fund which has been established in Trudy’s name to place a memorial bench in her honor in Vanderhoof, B.C.

Donations can be made at the Vanderhoof Branch of the Integris Credit Union at 186 West Columbia Street, Box 628, Vanderhoof, B.C. V0J 3A0 (1-250-567-4737). Alternatively, donations can be given to the North Okanagan Hospice House, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day…” 11 Timothy 4:7,8a
