Letter: Rio Tinto timing

Perhaps we are to assume that we can relax, all is well and being looked after.

Timing is everything — which makes one wonder why Rio Tinto and the NFCP put a four-page supplement about Chinook in the paper directly after the public meeting about wear management in the Nechako River. Perhaps we are to assume that we can relax, all is well and being looked after.

However, I did not see any mention of the possibilities of using the second tunnel, dredging the Tahtsa Reach, or meeting the needs of another ousters of the river. These were all concerns brought forward for the 1987 agreement. A water use management plan for all users may not address all the issues related to Nechako River flows, but it would be a start.
