Pam Berger
Pam Berger has been with Black Press for more than 23 years. Vanderhoof has been her home since 1966. She has a strong feel for our tri-town area. Pam enjoys people, and loves having an impact on our towns as they continue to grow and prosper. “The Omineca Express truly is a community newspaper, where we believe real people, real news and real life makes us unique.”

Fiona Maureen
Fiona is a bright-eyed new addition to the Black Press team, flying by the seat of her pants as a one-person newsroom editor/reporter serving Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Fort St. James.
She has dived right into the world of journalism enthusiastically taking on two weekly papers: The Omineca Express and Caledonia Courier, plus the Stuart Nechako Advertiser.
Fiona was raised a city-girl in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she studied music and ballet and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. She brings with her corporate experience in brand management, marketing and distribution for multinationals like Unilever and Coca-Cola.
Since settling in central interior B.C. in 2003, Fiona has enjoyed actively contributing to her community. She’s done grant writing, project coordination, worked and volunteered for non-profit service agencies, and most recently managed a seniors housing complex.
She is also mother to three young children, two of whom keep asking her when they’re going to be in the newspaper. The third is still learning how to talk!

Denise Smith
Denise arrived in Vanderhoof June 2008 with her husband. Dale had accepted a position with the Vanderhoof Co Op as meat manager. Within a couple months Denise and Dale fell in love with Vanderhoof and bought a home with plans to retire in the community. Denise brings with her many years of customer service, office procedures, and a passion for learning new things. On any given day you can find Denise chatting with customers whom quickly become friends. Denise’s favourite hobby is gardening, even in the snow.
