Canadian athletes went big in Vancouver, and it paid off in gold Canada tops gold medal count

The Own the Podium initiative was meant to make Canada a world leader in high-performance sport, with the mission of OTP being for the development of Canadian sports to achieve sustainable podium performances at the Olympic and Paralympics Games. Although it could be argued that the OTP initiative didn’t attain the success in the games in that Canada did not win the most medals overall, it was a huge success in that Canada won the most gold medals not only for Canada and for these Games but also for the entire history of the Winter Olympic Games. Way to go Canada!
