Fort St. James-born speed skater Jamie MacDonald, 21, won her first individual World Cup medal at the World Cup #6 in Dordrecht, Netherlands this February, placing third in the women’s 1,000-metre short track race.

Part of Canada’s national development team, MacDonald won her first World Cup medal of her career in Montreal earlier this year, placing silver in the relay event.

“It seems every level she goes up, she enjoys it,” said mother Julie MacDonald. “I’m really happy she’s able and have the opportunity to work so hard and see the fruits of her labour.”
