Vanderhoof skier finishes first in Burns Lake race

Omineca Open, the second Teck Northern Cup of 2017 for cross-country skiing, took place with 206 skiers in Burns Lake on Jan. 29.

Omineca Open, the second Teck Northern Cup of 2017 for cross-country skiing, took place with 206 skiers in Burns Lake on Jan. 29.

Pushing forth between competitors in a classic mass start, Vanderhoof was represented by Sonya Zurevinski, who won first place in the Open Women category, and Jimmy Reed, who placed eighth in the Pee Wee Boys category.

Event host Omineca Ski Club celebrates their group’s 90th anniversary this year.
